President's Message
November 12, 2003
If you ever wanted to learn about High School Basketball Officiating, you should have been there last weekend. I have always said that SABO is the best Association in the State and it showed at our Field Clinic. I don’t know where you could have gotten a more experience and knowledgeable group of Clinicians. The mixture of personalities was excellent. They projected a positive and friendly atmosphere to work and learn in. The coaches at Providence opened up the school and assisted us with anything that we needed. They bent over backwards to make our Clinic a success. The scrimmage times were planned right down to the last quarter. Each team had plenty of court time. Many thanks to the teams and coaches who stayed and helped with the State Evaluations , without their extra effort we could not have covered everything that we did.
Our volunteer staff did as much to contribute to our success as anyone. Everyone was on time and ready to work. They all pitched in and I heard no complaints from anybody. Every task that was ask of them was completed without any problems. From taking up money, registered guest, icing down drinks serving food, escorting people to classrooms, keeping the books during scrimmages serving as door monitors, picking up pizza for Friday night, Saturday picking up lunch and last but not least cleanup duty. All this was done and most still had time for the Field Clinic. What a group of people! We put our best foot forward and it showed. I heard nothing but good comments from our out of town guests. They were all asking how could they join our association. Nobody had seen such friendly helpful basketball officials. I have said it before; we are blessed with veterans who aren’t afraid to give back to the association. Veterans who love the game so much that their enthusiasm comes through in their training techniques. They truly enjoy officiating and that is what helped to make our Field Clinic so successful.
I am grateful to all you for your help and participation. Our hard work and planning paid off. You should be proud of yourselves because each and everyone of you went above and beyond to help make SABO better and it worked. I do sincerely appreciate it.
Thanks Again to Everyone,
Margaret Busbee
